Bridal Appointments

What happens at a bridal appointment.

Most brides have never shopped for a wedding dress before. The appointment is not just a shopping trip — it is a guided, one-on-one experience designed to take you from nervous and excited to certain. Here is exactly what to expect at Boulevard Bride, from the moment you book to the moment you say yes.

Before you arrive: what to bring

You do not need to prepare extensively for a bridal appointment, but a few things will help your stylist work faster and pull more accurate options.

Wear or bring nude, seamless undergarments that sit close to the fit you envision. Strapless bras, for example, let you see a wider range of necklines without interference. If you plan to wear heels, bring a pair close to that height — the silhouette of a mermaid gown looks completely different flat versus elevated.

Come with an open mind about silhouettes. Many brides arrive certain they want an A-line and leave with a fit-and-flare. Saying yes to one or two gowns outside your comfort zone takes nothing away from the appointment and occasionally changes everything.

  • Nude, seamless undergarments
  • Shoes at or near the height you plan to wear
  • Photos of venues or inspiration images (optional but helpful)
  • Your budget range
  • An open mind about silhouettes

Who to bring: keeping your party purposeful

Boulevard Bride appointments are one-on-one: one bride, one stylist. You may bring guests — your mother, a sister, a grandmother, a close friend — and there is no strict limit on party size for bridal appointments. But the most successful appointments tend to be small.

The brides who find their dress most quickly tend to bring one to three people whose opinion they genuinely trust and who know their personal style. A large group introduces competing opinions that can make the process harder, not easier.

Ask yourself before you book: whose voice will help me, and whose voice will make me second-guess myself? Bring the first group.

The consultation: before the first gown

Every appointment at Boulevard Bride begins with a short conversation. Your stylist will ask about your wedding: the venue, the season, the formality, the date. They will ask about your vision and your budget. They may look at inspiration photos if you have them.

This conversation is not formality. It is how your stylist narrows a showroom of hundreds of gowns to the ten or fifteen that belong in your fitting suite. The better you can describe what you are looking for — and what you are not — the more targeted the pull.

If you are genuinely unsure, say so. "I have no idea" is a completely valid answer, and a good stylist uses it to make adventurous, sometimes surprising choices. Some of the best dress moments come from complete openness.

Trying on gowns: how the fitting works

Your stylist will bring an initial selection into your suite. You will try gowns on one at a time. The stylist helps you into each dress, uses clips and pins to simulate a proper fit in places where the sample size differs from yours, and can hold the skirt up or adjust the train so you can see the full silhouette from different angles.

Guests remain in the waiting area until you are ready to come out for their opinion. Most brides find this makes the moment of emerging more meaningful — you see a dress on yourself first, before anyone else reacts.

We ask that you wait until the end of the appointment to take photos. This is intentional. Early photos can pull your attention away from how a dress actually feels and redirect it toward how it looks in a small screen. The goal is to find the dress that makes you feel like yourself — and that is harder to assess through a camera.

When you find the one: what happens next

When you say yes to a gown, your stylist places the order with the designer on the same day. They will confirm the style, size, and color with you before submitting.

Once ordered, the gown cannot be changed, cancelled, or returned. This is a manufacturer policy across the industry — each gown is produced specifically for you. Make sure you are 100 percent certain before your stylist submits.

After ordering, the next time you hear from the boutique is when your gown arrives. Depending on the designer, that is typically four to seven months later. Your stylist can give you a delivery window at the time of ordering.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need an appointment to try on wedding dresses at Boulevard Bride?

Yes. Boulevard Bride is an appointment-only bridal boutique. Walk-ins may be accommodated if a stylist and dressing room are available, but we cannot guarantee it. Weekends fill quickly. Booking in advance ensures you have a dedicated suite and stylist for your full appointment window.

How long is a bridal appointment?

Bridal appointments at Boulevard Bride run 1.5 to 2 hours. That window is enough time to try on a meaningful number of gowns, have a real conversation with your stylist about what is working, and arrive at a clear answer — whether that is yes to a dress or a direction for a second appointment.

Can I bring food or drinks to my bridal appointment?

Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the boutique. The showroom has a large collection of white and ivory gowns, and we work hard to keep them in pristine condition for every bride. However, Boulevard Bride does offer appointment upgrades that include small charcuterie boards and mimosas for you and your party.

Can I take photos during my appointment?

We ask that you wait until the end of the appointment to take photos. The goal during the appointment is to stay present in the experience and focus on how each gown actually feels. When you find the right one, we are happy to help you get all the photos you want.

What sizes do you carry in bridal samples?

Bridal sample gowns at Boulevard Bride range from size 6 to size 28. Gowns can be special ordered in sizes 0 through 34W. If a sample is not in your size, your stylist can use clips and pins to give you an accurate impression of the fit and silhouette.
